Judge OKs extra time to prepare for trial

The lawyer representing a man accused of murdering a cab driver by setting him on fire during a robbery said her client was not prepared to enter a plea Monday because she had not received the information regarding the charges from the District Attorney's office.
James Scholl, 33, is charged with murder, robbery, burglary, kidnapping, mayhem and third-degree arson in connection with the Aug. 20 attack on 51-year-old Pairoj Chitprasart, a Nellis Cab driver.
District Judge Valerie Adair rescheduled Scholl's arraignment for Oct. 4., and Special Public Defender Alzora Jackson said that should give her enough time to review the information of the case and consult with Scholl.
Scholl waived his right to a preliminary hearing on Sept. 13. He continues to be held in the Clark County Detention Center without bail on the charges.
