Senior fair set at Cambridge Center

Clark County Parks and Community Services' Senior Advocate Program will sponsor a Senior Fair from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at the Cambridge Recreation Center, 3930 Cambridge St.

Health and other service providers will be available with information and testing, including vision and hearing tests.

The Senior Advocate Program provides a central point of contact for referrals to services and programs available to senior citizens and their caregivers.

Sponsors sought for food program

Applications are now being accepted for year- round sponsors of the 2005 Summer Food Service Program for children organized by the state Education Department.

The Summer Food Service Program provides sponsors an opportunity to help ensure children's physical and social development by providing nutritious meals when they are out of school for 15 continuous school days or more. Public and private nonprofit school food authorities, residential summer camps, private nonprofit organizations, and units of local county, municipal, State or Federal government are eligible to sponsor the Summer Food Service Program.

The first fund-raiser for Nevada Open Doors Foundation

will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Cannery Casino. The event will feature a variety of entertainers who are donating their time and talent for the event. Tickets are $20. Call Jamie Hines at 893-0328.

Comedian and cancer survivor

Robert Schimmel will bring humor and a positive attitude to stem cell and bone marrow transplant survivors and their families at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Comprehensive Cancer Centers office at 3730 S. Eastern Ave. Call 952-3400.
