Aloysius Frank Abram
Aloysius Frank Abram, 78, of Las Vegas died Aug. 3 in Las Vegas. He was born July 26, 1926, in New York. A resident for 40 years, he was a retired Marine Corps veteran.
He is survived by two daughters, Terryann Tiffany Abram of Las Vegas and Kathleen Lorraine Hegenauer of Bay City, Mich.; one son, Jeff Abram; and two grandchildren.
Services are pending, but will be held in Battle Creek, Mich., with full military honor. Valley Funeral Home, 3919 Raymert Drive.
The family suggests donations to the American Heart Association, 6370 W. Flamingo Road, Suite 1, Las Vegas, NV 89103.
Bertha Cano-Moreno
Bertha Cano-Moreno, 56, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. Born May 25, 1948, in Mexico, she was a resident for five years.
She is survived by her companion, Meliton O. Ugalde, two sons, Homero Federico Ugalde-Cano and Omar Renato Ugalde-Cano, three daughters, LisBeth Lugo-Cano, Bertha Julissa Ugalde-Cano and Bethzaith Cecilia Ugalde-Cano, and one sister, Rebeca Cano-Moreno, all of Mexico; and six grandchildren.
Services will be private. Garden Memorial Funeral Home, 3600 W. Vegas Drive.
Christopher James Nagy
Christopher James Nagy, 29, of Henderson died Monday in Henderson. He was born June 19, 1975, in Safford, Ariz. A resident for 25 years, he was a bartender.
He is survived by his mother, Nancy E. Nagy, one brother, Steven Nagy, and his grandfather, Daniel A. Strope, all of Henderson; and his grandmother, Margaret Nagy of Everett, Pa.
Visitation is scheduled from 1 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. services Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson.
John 'Ordell' Peterson
John "Ordell" Peterson, 79, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born Aug. 29, 1925, in Fillmore, Utah. A resident for 51 years, he was a pipefitter/welder, a member of Local 525 and a World War II Navy veteran.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Colleen; one son, Greg Peterson of North Las Vegas; one daughter, Diane Bringhurst of Twin Falls, Idaho; two brothers, Darrow Peterson of Las Vegas and Val Peterson of Pleasant Grove, Utah; and nine grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to an 11 a.m. service Thursday in the LDS Civic Center/Tonopah chapel, 2401 E. Tonopah Ave. Graveside services will follow in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.
The Rev. Mike Edward Phelan
The Rev. Mike Edward Phelan, 60, of Las Vegas died Sept. 7 in Arizona. He was born Nov. 15, 1943, in Orange, Texas. A resident for 28 years, he was an English and history teacher and a Vietnam War veteran.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Frances D.; one son, Michael B. Phelan; three daughters, Elaina Phelan, Kathy B. Jordan and Karmen E. Phelan-Brown; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Monday in Victory Missionary Baptist Church, 500 W. Monroe Ave. Desert Rose Cremation and Burial, 2750 S. Fourth Avenue, Suite 106, Tucson, Ariz., handled arrangements.
Luis Jose Sanchez
Luis Jose Sanchez, 81, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born Aug. 27, 1923, in Cuba. A resident for 13 years, he was a retired textile spreader.
He is survived by his wife, Delia; three daughters, Gricel Dobbins, Newbury Park, Calif., Maria Elena Sanchez of Arleta, Calif., and Dania Luisa Sanchez-Pinnick of West Hills, Calif.; and two grandchildren.
Visitation will continue until 7 p.m. today with a 6 p.m. rosary in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday in Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 5485 E. Charleston Blvd.
Charles Shady
Charles Shady, 83, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local care center. He was born June 4, 1921, in Ann Harbor, Mich. A resident for 12 years, he was a retired chiropractor.
He is survived by his wife, Sonia; three sons, Mickey Shady of San Diego and Eddie Shady and Alex Shady, both of Detroit; one daughter, Carol Coon of Detroit; and four grandchildren.
Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., handled arrangements.
Lien Tiet
Lien Tiet, 85, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. She was born Jan. 6, 1919, in Vietnam. A resident for 16 years, she was a homemaker.
She is survived by three daughters, Ann Van and Mimi Huynh, both of Las Vegas and Any Huynh of San Francisco; two sons, Tonne Huahng and Donald T. Huynh, both of Las Vegas; one sister, Nga Tu Tiet, and one brother Quang Tiet, both of Vietnam; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St.
