Letter: Kerry is only war hero in the race
Thursday, Sept. 16, 2004 | 9:38 a.m.
In response to Richard St. John's Sept. 9 letter, headlined "National Guard service shouldn't be diminished": Let's get our facts straight here. John Kerry has never said serving in the National Guard was something to be looked down upon.
Why should Kerry congratulate George Bush for lying about how he got in the National Guard and for not fulfilling his obligations while there. Let's also not forget who started all this (Republicans) by lying about John Kerry's record.
Maybe if George Bush had experienced the horrors of combat, as John Kerry did, and maybe if he were carrying around a souvenir of shrapnel in his leg, like Kerry is, he would not have been so eager to send our sons and daughters off to fight an unnecessary war.
My vote goes to John Kerry -- a real war hero who has experienced real war and not someone whose only war experience is watching war movies on TV.
