Auditions set for ‘Laugh Across America’

Auditions for aspiring and established comedians to compete in the "Laugh Across America' contest will be held at 10 a.m. Sunday at Palace Station's Laugh Trax Comedy Club.
A mandatory informational meeting will be held one hour before auditions start.
Finalists will compete Oct. 13-17 at the Golden Nugget against contestants selected from 15 cities across the nation.
There is no entry fee and no experience is required for most categories.
The categories include:
Youth, age 17 and under.
Impersonators, age 18 and over.
Variety, Parody, Song Parodies and Musical Impressionists, Prop, Ventriloquists, Magic, Juggling and Impressionists age 18 and over.
Stand-up, age 18 and over.
According to organizers, contestants will be asked to perform three to five minutes of original material.
Winners will be announced at the end of each region's local contest and posted on the Web site -- www.laughacrossamerica.com.
No appointments will be taken.
Even if you're not selected, you can still attend the festival, where you will meet headline comedians, learn about writing, practice performing and participate in panels, seminars, showcases, and more.
More than $55,000 in cash will be awarded.
