Willard 'Barney' Allen

Willard "Barney" Allen, 79, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local care center. He was born June 2, 1925, in Santa Cruz, Calif. A resident for 34 years, he was a retired parole/probation officer, a World War II and Korean War Army veteran, a member of American Legion Post 51 and AmVets of California.

He is survived by his wife, Debbie; and one sister, Sharon Eakes of Yuba City, Calif.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

The family suggests donations to the National Parkinson Foundation Inc., 1501 Northwest Ninth Ave., Miami, FL 33136-1494.

Ruth Edna Becker

Ruth Edna Becker of Las Vegas died Sept. 2 in Las Vegas. An office manager, she was born in California.

She is survived by two sons, Brian Marshall and Brett Marshall, both of Las Vegas; one brother, Raymond Baker, and two sisters, Lou Ingibretsen and Mary Vigil, all of California; and two grandchildren.

Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling private arrangements.

Sophie Joan Bonaventure

Sophie Joan Bonaventure, 84, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. She was born Aug. 29, 1920, in Dillonvale, Ohio. A resident for 46 years, she was retired from the restaurant industry.

She is survived by one daughter, Sharon Hug, one son, James Bonaventure, both of Las Vegas; one sister, Jane Rusiecki of Brecksville, Ohio; three brothers, Bill Rusiecki, John Rusiecki and Edward Rusiecki, all of Dillonvale; three grandchildren, Cristy Mortensen, Shawn Hammond and Dan Hammond; and four great-grandchildren, Lauren Mortensen, Kim Hammond, Samantha Hammond and Molli Hammond.

Mass will be 10 a.m. Friday in Our Lady of Las Vegas Catholic Church, 3050 Alta Drive. Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., is handling arrangements.

Lavonne Lee Brown

Lavonne Lee Brown, 54, of Henderson died Sunday in Henderson. She was born Sept. 13, 1949, in Illinois. A resident for many years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Charles Brown of Las Vegas.

No local services are scheduled. Burial will be in Illinois. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Maryon M. Bruns

Maryon M. Bruns, 90, of Boulder City died Sunday in Las Vegas. She was born Oct. 5, 1913. A resident for four years, she was a quality inspector in the aerospace industry and a member of the Senior Center of Boulder City.

She is survived by three daughters, Victoria Doyle of Las Vegas, Patricia Swope of California and Penelope Smith of Boulder City; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling private arrangements.

Clayton Matthew Carter

Clayton Matthew Carter, 27, of Henderson died Wednesday in Henderson. He was born May 24, 1977, in Sandy Valley. A resident for 27 years, he was a construction surveyor.

He is survived by his father, Robert Carter of Sandy Valley; his mother, Inge Hendricks, one sister, Heather Brown, and three brothers, Christopher Carter, Robert Carter Jr. and Richard Carter, all of Las Vegas; and his grandparents, Ernest and Helen Carter of St. George, Utah.

Graveside services followed by a wake will be 6 p.m. Saturday in Sandy Valley Cemetery. Nevada Funeral Service-Nevada Cremation or Burial Society, 2983 Fremont St., is handling arrangements.

Juvenal De Freitas

Juvenal De Freitas, 64, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born June 18, 1940, in Portugal. A resident for 26 years, he was a retired baker.

He is survived by three sisters, Lidia Reyes, Lourdes Sousa and Zita Freitas, and two brothers, Armando Freitas and Jose DeFreitas, all of Las Vegas.

Visitation will continue until 7 p.m. today and one hour prior to a noon service Friday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Burial will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.

Richard Allison Harman

Richard Allison Harman, 69, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was born March 25, 1935, in New York. A resident for 26 years, he was a salesman at Firestone Tires and a veteran of the National Guard.

He is survived by his wife, Susan Marcia; one son, Scott Harman; one daughter, Kimberly Ann Harman-Struble; and two grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 4 p.m. Friday in Westminster Presbyterian Church, 4601 W. Lake Mead Blvd. Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.

Kathleen Hughes

Kathleen Hughes, 79, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. She was born Dec. 4, 1924, in Illinois. A resident for 28 years, she was a homemaker and a member of Daughters of Erin.

She is survived by one son, John P. Hughes; two daughters, Kathleen M. Logan and Nancy A. Trisch; and three grandchildren.

Visitation was scheduled from noon until a 3 p.m. service today at St. Viator Catholic Church, 2461 E. Flamingo Road. Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.

Jamie Jarrett

Jamie Jarrett, 19, of Henderson died Saturday in Bakersfield, Calif. She was born April 29, 1985, in Colorado Springs, Colo. A resident for 2 1/2 years, she was a student.

She is survived by her companion, Val Garcia of Bakersfield; her mother and stepfather, Donna and D.C. Lemaster of Henderson; her father and stepmother, Randy and Georgette Jarrett of Edgewood, Wash.; four sisters, Brandi Hollis, Brooke Jarrett, Vanessa Lemaster and Ashley Lemaster, all of Henderson; four stepbrothers, J.D. Hendrick of Charlotte, N.C., Chad Hendrick of Helena, Mont., Brandon Hendrick of Vancouver, Wash., and Dustin Lemaster of Fort Worth, Texas; her grandparents, June Cooper and Georgia and Russell Jarrett, all of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Andree and Don Lemaster of Fort Worth, Texas.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Nevada Funeral Service-Nevada Cremation or Burial Society, 2983 Fremont St.

Van N. Jensen

Van N. Jensen, 95, of Boulder City died Monday in a local hospital. He was born April 5, 1909, in Centralia, Ill. A resident for 70 years, he retired as an electrical foreman for Nevada Power Co. after 28 years and had worked at Hoover Dam for 12 years.

He is survived by two daughters, Shirley LaBadie of Carson City and Theresa Patterson of Roseville, N.C.; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Friday in Boulder City Cemetery, 501 Adams Blvd. Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Lewis Leibrock

Lewis Leibrock, 91, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. He was born Nov. 30, 1912, in Nebraska. A resident for 15 years, he was a retired inspector for an aircraft manufacturer.

He is survived by his wife, Hulda M.

Pearl Rudder

Pearl Rudder, 90, of Henderson died Saturday in a local care center. She was born Oct. 2, 1913, in Memphis, Tenn. A resident for four years, she was a retired food service employee.

She is survived by one son, Samuel W. Rudder Jr. of Henderson; one grandchild; two great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 30 minutes prior to an 11 a.m. service Friday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Burial will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.

David J. Runyen

David J. Runyen, 66, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born Nov. 2, 1937, in California. A resident for 39 years, he was a retired carpenter, a Korean War Air Force veteran, a member of the Pittsburgh Club, Old Timers Club and Christian Motorcycle Association.

He is survived by one son, Robin Ewing; one daughter, Elizabeth Bluhm; one brother, Michael Runyen; and two grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Monday in Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North.

Christopher Samuolis

Christopher Samuolis, 28, of Henderson died Monday in a local hospital. He was born Aug. 5, 1976, in Chicago. A resident for 14 years, he was a cashier at Smith's Food Center in Silverado Ranch.

He is survived by his parents, Peter and Pam Samuolis, and one sister, Audra Samuolis, all of Henderson; one brother, Michael Samuolis of Las Vegas; and his grandmother, Frances Novak of Crete, Ill.

A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

Brenda J. Warren

Brenda J. Warren, 45, of North Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. She was born Sept. 30, 1958, in New Mexico. A resident for 43 years, she was a member of the sheet metal union and director of the Southern Nevada Pop Warner cheerleaders.

She is survived by her husband, Herbert; three daughters, Monique Curtis, Lekia Cambell and Roberta J. Warren, all of Las Vegas; two brothers, Jimmy Lee Rogers of Texas and Roy Lee Rogers of Las Vegas; three sisters, Linda Kay Butler of Texas, Ora Denise Brison of North Las Vegas and Shawnee Rogers of California; and two grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 6-8 p.m. Friday in Thomas and Jones Funeral Home, 310 Foremaster Lane. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Greater Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church, 1915 Lexington St.
