Letter: Yucca foes must present options
Thursday, Sept. 9, 2004 | 8:55 a.m.
Although all Nevadans appreciate the efforts of columnists, such as Brian Greenspun, to protect them by protesting against the perceived dangers of a nuclear waste repository at Yucca Mountain, these efforts have done nothing to resolve the issue of safe disposal or destruction of nuclear waste.
Nevada's cause would be better served by columnists who continuously presented and promoted scientifically sound alternatives to Yucca Mountain. If no viable alternatives were determined to be available, however, responsible Nevadans might want to consider their position on Yucca Mountain from the perspective of being a citizen of the United States and not merely being a citizen of Nevada.
