Letter: Bush’s agenda for next term unclear
Thursday, Sept. 9, 2004 | 8:53 a.m.
I've been waiting patiently for President Bush to lay out his agenda for his second term, yet all I've seen is his campaign ads bashing Sen. John Kerry.
What will he do about the deficits caused by his three tax cuts, which are projected to continue on for decades? What are his plans for Medicare and Social Security, now that Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan has warned that these deficits will prevent the necessary funding for these programs in the future. How will he handle the unemployment problem, or the 43 million Americans without health insurance? Finally he takes credit for the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, but can anyone say they are being handled properly?
His supporters like to describe his rigid approach to problems as being steadfast. I would suggest that he's just being pigheaded.
