Cleanup planned at Willow Beach

The National Park Service and Black Canyon/Willow Beach River Adventures will hold the third annual Willow Beach Cleanup and Ecology Drive at 8 p.m. Saturday at Willow Beach, 14 miles south of Hoover Dam off U.S. 93.

Beach cleanup volunteers should wear sunscreen and bring hats, gloves, and footwear that can get wet. Volunteers will meet at the Willow Beach store. Rafts will take cleanup volunteers to selected beaches.

Water and a snack will be provided to the workers. Experienced, certified C divers with "C" cards are needed for the ECO dive. Divers must bring their "C" card, dry suits or 7 mm wet suits, hoods, and gloves.

After the ECO dive and cleanup, a free barbecue will be held for all volunteers, followed by a raffle.

Walk for Diabetes to go down Strip

The Las Vegas office of the American Diabetes Association will begin its annual America's Walk for Diabetes with check-in at 7 a.m. Sunday, followed by the walk at 8 a.m. at Wet 'n' Wild, 2600 Las Vegas Blvd. South.

Walkers in more than 250 cities will join Southern Nevada participants in gaining sponsorships for one-mile, two-mile or three-mile walks along the Strip.

Refreshments will be served at rest stops along the route. A health fair with vendor booths and live entertainment will be held immediately following the walk.
