Columnist Muriel Stevens: Armani’s Sensi is heaven scent
Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2004 | 8:12 a.m.
"A perfume that arouses the senses is never forgotten," fashion designer Giorgio Armani says. One whiff of Sensi is all it takes. The fragrance and an agate necklace are included in a Limited Edition holiday presentation package that will be available in November.
Beautifully encased, the leaf-shaped glass bottle is decorated with a flat, oval agate pendant in shades of sienna, taupe or orange. The raw silk cord that is wrapped around the neck of the bottle is part of the necklace.
This Limited Edition Sensi gift package will be available as long as supplies last. The price is $65. Look for it at Saks and Nordstrom in the Fashion Show mall and other select stores.
Sensi is a seductive perfume with floral, woody Oriental tones and subtle undertones of Farnese acacia, a hint of Kaffir lime, the scent of jasmine and other botanicals.
To test this cool fragrance in a perfume department, have the salesperson spray it lightly into the air, then walk through it. It's the best way to gently experience the various elements without being overwhelmed.
Jenn-Air joins with glass artist Michael Weems: Jenn-Air's Atrezzi line of "beautiful" small appliances includes a limited-edition stand mixer and a blender with a limited-edition glass bowl and pitcher created in conjunction with renowned Baltimore glass artist Michael Weems.
Jenn-Air will donate a portion of the sales of these small appliances to the anti-hunger charity Share Our Strength (SOS).
The mixer retails for $359; the blender for $209. Anyone who already owns an Atrezzi mixer or blender can purchase a limited-edition glass bowl or pitcher for $69 each. The glass bowl and pitcher incorporate Weems' signature frosted and etched-glass design. All of the items are available online at www.Jenn-AirAtrezzi.com.
Holiday gifts for home cooks: Meissermeister is offering its Meridian elite 12-inch salmon knife in an attractive hinged wooden gift box. This exceptional scalloped edge knife allows a salmon lover to make slices that fall away from the knife.
The scallops create air pockets that keep salmon from sticking to the knife. This eliminates the problem I usually have when I make gravlax. The Messermeister Granton Salmon Knife is $140. Without the wooden gift box the price is $128. For more information call (800) 426-5134 or visit www.messermeister.com.
Odor be gone: Smellkiller Air Cleanser eliminates odors without the use of chemicals, sprays or electric current. How they do it? Ask your favorite retailer. Smellkiller is sold at Linen 'n Things, www.amazon.com and Chef's Catalog at (800) 884-2433.
Travel medic in Henderson: International Health Consulting has opened at 1701-8 Green Valley Parkway, Suite B. The office offers immunizations, pre-travel consultations, malaria medications and other travel meds. Dr. Michael Silvers, director of International Health Consulting, is board certified in Preventive Medicine and Public Health and has more than 15-years of international experience, including Chief Medical Advisor of U.S. Peace Corps, Director of International Health at the University of Louisville and more. For more information call 914-2790.
