Police believe three drive-by shootings done by same men

Metro and North Las Vegas Police were searching for three men and a dark blue Ford Probe after three shootings over the weekend -- one on the Las Vegas Strip and two in North Las Vegas.

The shootings, which police say may be gang related, left one man dead and three wounded.

About 2 a.m. on Saturday, Metro responded to a shooting in front of New York-New York. The suspects pulled up beside a car, flashed gang signs and fired two rounds from what appeared to be a shotgun, police said.

The first round hit the vehicle, and the second round hit the driver and a passenger, police said. The two shooting victims were taken to University Medical Center and one was treated and released, police said.

Immediately after firing the weapon, the suspects drove west on Tropicana Avenue to Interstate 15 and turned north on the freeway, witnesses told police.

In another shooting, North Las Vegas Police were called to Glider and McGovern avenues about 2:20 a.m. where they found a vehicle with one man who had been shot dead and another man suffering what appeared to be a shotgun wound, police said. A third passenger in the vehicle was not wounded.

The wounded man was taken to University Medical Center.

North Las Vegas Police investigators said the vehicle with the shooting victim veered off the road and hit a light pole. Investigators were not certain whether the vehicle was moving when the shooting occurred.

"We think it's the same people that did the shooting on the Strip," North Las Vegas Police spokesman Tim Bedwell said Monday.

No suspects are in custody at this time, Bedwell said.

A third incident occurred about 4 a.m. Saturday at Carey Avenue and Daley Street in North Las Vegas. Suspects matching the same description as those from the two previous shootings pointed a shotgun at some people not far from where the man was found dead in his car, Bedwell said.

Anyone with information on any of the incidents are asked to call Crime Stoppers at 385-5555.
