Metro investigates three home invasions

In addition to a home invasion in a gated community in northwest Las Vegas on Friday, Metro Police investigated two others that occurred later in the day.

They are not believed to be related, Sgt. Gayland Hammack of the department's robbery section said.

About 10:30 a.m. several young men forced their way into a home near Spring Mountain and Lindell roads. They wrapped the sleeping occupant in a comforter, stole some property and left in the victim's car, a late model GMC Yukon with dealer's plates, Hammack said.

Another occurred about 12:30 a.m. on the 4700 block of Woodridge Road, near Tropicana Avenue and Paradise Road. Several men entered a home and tied up a man and woman inside and stole some items. The man untied himself and freed the woman. Police said that case appears drug related and the victims are believed to know the suspects.

The first home invasion occurred in northwest Las Vegas near Grand Teton Drive and Cimarron Road. The male occupant answered the door about 12:30 a.m. to find three men on his doorstep. He let them inside because they said someone threw their keys in the backyard, Hammack said.

Once inside, they pulled guns on the man and a woman inside, attacked them and ransacked the house.

Although Metro Police investigate about 15 home invasion robberies per month, three in one day is unusual, Hammack said.
