Public input asked at schools meeting
Clark County School Board members want to hear the public's thoughts -- and suggestions -- for education funding at a community meeting Wednesday from 10 a.m. to noon at Keller Middle School.
The meeting is the second in a series of seven public forums -- each on a different, education-related topic. Clark County School Board member Sheila Moulton, who represents District G, will facilitate the discussion.
Public input will be collected at each meeting, with a final report to be made to the full School Board later this year.
Keller Middle School is at 311 Fogg St., near Stewart Avenue and Hollywood Boulevard in eastern Las Vegas. The next meeting -- to discuss extracurricular activities in the district -- will be 6 to 8 p.m. Sept. 13 at Lawrence Middle School, 4410 S. Juliano St., near Flamingo Road and Durango Drive.
For more information call the Clark County School Board office at (702) 799-1072 or go online to ccsd.net.
The Bureau of Land Management
is asking for volunteers to help celebrate National Public Lands Day at Sloan Canyon National Conservation Area from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 18 by cleaning up shooting range debris, illegal roadside dumps, abandoned vehicles and graffiti. Contact Jim Cribbs at the BLM Las Vegas Field Office, (702) 515-5234 or email at james]cribbs@blm.gov.
