Letter: Attack ads seek to distract voters

President George W. Bush (and Karl Rove) should remember Abraham Lincoln's words: "What kills a skunk is the publicity it gives itself." The anti-John Kerry nonsense coming from the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth fits that image to perfection.

Countenanced and perhaps promoted by President Bush in order to divert public attention from his administration's failures, this organization's effort is bound to fail. No amount of diversionary criticism can mask the huge, unconscionable deficits run up by this administration.
