Mayor running a solid campaign

As we pass the one-quarter point in this season's Sal Celebrity Selectors competition, Las Vegas mayor Oscar Goodman leads the field with an 8-4 mark against the spread.
Hizzoner was excited about his quick start in his quest for the Golden Nerf, the trophy that goes to the winner.
"If I keep this up, I won't have to get another 'day job,' " Goodman said.
Alone in second place is Mirage headliner Danny Gans, with a 7-5 record against the number.
"I am the Carnac of football picks," Gans said.
The impressionist and his band pick the games together, with a little help.
"We all discuss the teams -- how they played last year against that team, are they healthy, are they playing at home or away, etc.," Gans explained. "Then I ask Kadie, my 3-year-old black lab. 'Kadie! Dallas vs. Oakland or Miami vs. the Raiders?' If she barks, that's the game we go with."
I always knew someday this contest would go to the dogs. Anyway, defending champion and New York-New York headliner Rita Rudner is in third at 6-5-1.
