A man apparently killed by a gunshot was found on the side of a dirt road near Needles Highway in the Laughlin area about 11:45 a.m. Thursday, Metro Police said.

The unidentified man was found by off-roaders, and police said it appeared the body hadn't been there long.

The man was described as white, 40 to 50 years old, 6-feet-2 and 280 pounds. He was bald or had a shaved head and a Fu Manchu mustache, and was wearing cowboy boots, Wrangler jeans and a tan-colored, short-sleeve shirt with a yellow and brown leaf design. His belt has a silver buckle with a brass-colored horse head in the center and the word "Helton" written on the back.

Woman injured in collision

A Las Vegas woman was in critical condition this morning after the vehicle she was in collided with a car traveling through a yellow light and then crashed into an SUV, police said.

Thief crashes into credit union

Police today were looking for a thief who crashed his car into a Las Vegas credit union early Thursday and made off with an untold amount of cash from the bank's automated teller machine.

The theft occurred at the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers credit union at 1900 S. Jones Blvd. about 2 a.m. Thursday, Metro Police spokesman Jose Montoya said.

According to police, the thief rammed his car into the front doors of the credit union, allowing him to break into the ATM. The driver then fled with the cash on foot, leaving the car at the scene, Montoya said.
