Letter: Democrats must eject left wing to attract voters
Friday, Nov. 12, 2004 | 8:56 a.m.
The Las Vegas Sun's Nov. 4 editorial asked a series of questions wondering how America could possibly have given such a deep and wide mandate to President Bush and the Republican Party. As usual, the answer is simple. To paraphrase Bill Clinton: It's the message, stupid.
The left wing, liberal, big government, dependency-advocating, victimhood promoting, amoral, tax-and-spend, politically correct mentality does not resonate with at least 52 percent of the American citizens who voted on Nov. 2. The Democratic/Liberal dogs just don't hunt.
If the Democrats want to be attractive to the mainstream of American thought they must dump the left wing, Michael Moore, America-hating mentality and move to the right of center politically, where an obvious majority of Americans reside.
The Democrats should be proposing the best way to reform Social Security and health care, the best way to reduce abortions and the deficit and a better way to kill more terrorists faster.
The culture war has not been won yet, but Americans won a huge battle Nov. 2.
