Feds granted injunctions against NADN associates

The Justice Department on Tuesday said it received injunction orders in U.S. District Court in Las Vegas against eight people associated with the now-defunct tax service company National Audit Defense Network.

Injunctions were granted against former NADN President Weston Coolidge, General Manager Alan Rodrigues and Manager Adam Mangabang, barring them from selling fraudulent tax schemes. Similar injunctions were granted against NADN associates Lee Panelli, Jeff Klingenberg and Ric Klingenberg. Also barred was a related NADN company, ALR Inc., which conducted business as Success Matrix Group.

A court order also permanently bars Christine Reid and Mary Orie from preparing false tax documents. All of the defendants consented to the injunctions, the Justice Department said.

While the defendants admitted no wrongdoing in agreeing to the injunctions, the Justice Department had claimed that they were illegally using NADN's customer list and database to carry on unscrupulous activity.

Las Vegas-based NADN closed in May 2004, converting a 2003 Chapter 11 bankruptcy to a liquidation proceeding. The company was under pressure from the Internal Revenue Service for carrying on tax schemes its claimed cost the U.S. Treasury $324 million.
