Letter: Oil reserves must be released to lower gas prices
Monday, May 24, 2004 | 8:41 a.m.
President Bush often reminds us that we are at war. He fails to say that this unjust war is his war. As soon as he is sent back to Texas, hopefully the world will find a way to get it over with in a hurry.
In his latest reminder, he used the war as justification for not releasing any of the U.S. oil reserves. Gasoline prices nearing $3 a gallon are "emergency" enough to have these reserves released.
Our friends in Saudi Arabia control OPEC. They are the same people we saved from Saddam in Gulf War I. They are certainly showing their appreciation for our efforts.
Bush could put them and the rest of OPEC in their places overnight if he thought more about the average American instead of the average Middle Easterner.
