Developers of Henderson project settle complaint

Developers of the Green Valley Country Club Apartments in Henderson have settled a Fair Housing Act complaint filed by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, the Justice Department said today.
Wilmark Development Co., Mark Schmidt Construction and WLW of Nevada Inc. developed, designed and built the apartments, the government said. They agreed to pay $718,000 to make the complex accessible to people with disabilities, federal attorneys said.
The defendants couldn't be reached for comment.
HUD had alleged the apartments didn't comply with federal law because they had no accessible route into apartments, doors were too narrow for wheelchairs, bathroom walls lacked reinforcements needed for installation of grab bars and the common and public use areas were not accessible.
