Howard C. Abercrombie

Howard C. Abercrombie, 90, of North Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospice. He was born Jan. 9, 1914, in Walsenburg, Colo. A resident for eight years, he was a retired Navy chief warrant officer and World War II veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Marie C.; two daughters, Joan Miller of Las Vegas and Nancy Abercrombie of El Ceritos, Calif.; one brother, Orvil Jones of Lake Isabella, Calif.; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Visitation is scheduled from 10 a.m. to noon Friday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., followed by graveside services in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

Bernadette Bechtold

Bernadette Bechtold, 58, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. She was born Jan. 6, 1946, in Philadelphia. A resident for eight years, she was a homemaker, and collected teddy bears.

She is survived by her husband, Robert F.; two sons, Peter F. Bechtold of Hangham, Mass., and Kirk D. Bechtold of Las Vegas; and one grandchild.

Visitation is scheduled from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 1811 Pueblo Vista Drive.

Elaine Birnberg

Elaine Birnberg, 70, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. She was born April 9, 1934, in New York. A resident for seven years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by two daughters, Iris Marsh of Key Port, N.J., and Sharon Birnberg of Red Bank, N.J.; and two grandchildren.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in King David Memorial Chapel, 2697 Eldorado Lane, followed by burial in King David Cemetery. Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Sylvester Bush

Sylvester Bush, 84, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born April 2, 1920, in Arkansas. A longtime resident, he was a musician.

He is survived by his wife, Clara; and one daughter, Kim Allen of Chicago.

No local services are scheduled. Burial will be in Arkansas. Hites Funeral Home, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Freda Cartwright

Freda Cartwright, 93, of Las Vegas died Monday in North Las Vegas. She was born July 24, 1910, in Canada. A recent resident, she was a retired sales clerk.

She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Harold W.; one daughter, Sandra Boiselle of Las Vegas; one grandchild; and one great-grandchild.

Thomas Conway

Thomas Conway, 65, of Henderson died Sunday in a local hospital. He was born Jan. 16, 1939, in Antioch, Calif. A resident for 33 years, he was a foreman at Kerr-McGee and an Air Force veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Patsy; three daughters, Mary Jo Rendon of Phoenix, Cynthia Lynn Delillo of Henderson and Sandra Jean Rendon of Peach Springs, Ariz.; four sons, Michael Leon Lyons of Henderson, T.C. Conway of Phoenix, Vincent Conway of San Francisco and Paul Ralph Rendon of California; one brother, David Conway of Payson, Ariz.; one sister, Johnnie Miller of Montezuma, Ariz.; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. services Friday in Nevada Funeral Service, 2983 Fremont St.

Theresa Drakulich

Theresa Drakulich, 77, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospice. She was born March 14, 1927, in Reno. A resident for 49 years, she was a retired teacher.

She is survived by her husband, Michael "Chub"; two daughters, Terry Miller-Newcomb of Las Vegas and Linda VanCitters of Reno; two sisters, Josephine Saulisberry of Carson City and Annette Mortimer of Reno; and nine grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave. Burial will be private.

Leticia L. Garcia

Leticia L. Garcia, 63, of Henderson died Monday in Henderson. She was born Aug. 30, 1940, in the Philippines. A resident for one year, she was a retired physician.

She is survived by her husband, Maximo C.; one daughter, Abigail L. Garcia of New York; five sisters, Paciencia L. Servande of Las Vegas, Elenita L. Afable of Henderson and Carolina L. Mallare, Elidia L. Semeniano and Amadea L. Atienza, all of the Philippines; and one brother, Nolasco L. Linsangan of Spring Valley, N.Y.

Visitation is scheduled from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. today and from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. with a 6 p.m. rosary Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday in St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 130 N. Pecos Road, Henderson.

John Guseila

John Guseila, 63, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. Born May 23, 1940, in Romania, he was a maintenance technician.

He is survived by his wife, Constantina; three daughters, Sorina Stroie of Brunswick, Ohio, and Simona Brescan and Sand Wehbe, both of Las Vegas; one brother, Mircea Guseila, two sisters, Marioara Guseila and Felicia Pria, and his mother, Maria, all of Romania; and seven grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. with a 5 p.m. rosary Friday in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Bunkers Chapel, followed by burial in Memory Gardens.

Marilyn Amy Kay

Marilyn Amy Kay, 35, of Las Vegas died Friday. She was born Jan. 30, 1969, in Las Vegas. A lifetime resident, she was an assistant manager in wholesale and a member of the Moapa Band of Paiutes.

She is survived by four sons, Johnny Rubio, Gabriel Rubio, Lawrence M. Rubio and Alex Kay, her mother, Rosella Hassell, her father, Ralph Lane, three brothers, Benjamin Kay, Sylvester Kay and Robert Hassell, all of Las Vegas; and one grandchild.

Visitation is scheduled from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a 5 p.m. service Thursday in the Paiute Tribe Administrative Building, followed by burial in the Las Vegas Paiute Tribe Cemetery. Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., is handling arrangements.

Carmen Marrero

Carmen Marrero, 18, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a medical center. Born Sept. 12, 1985, in Las Vegas, she was a student.

She is survived by her parents, Diane and Louis Marrero, and one sister, Adrienne Marrero, all of Las Vegas; one brother, Louis Marrero II of Reno; and her grandparents, Joyce and Bruce Young, of Paradise Valley, Ariz.

A memorial service will be 7 p.m. Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd.

Edith J. Nealon

Edith J. Nealon, 81, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. She was born Aug. 23, 1922, in Portland, Ore. A resident for 20 years, she was a homemaker, and a member of the Retired Officers Wives Club, Ladybugs and several bridge clubs.

She is survived by two sons, Robert Nealon and James Nealon; two daughters, Candace Stroup and Susan Marchette; one sister, Jaqueline Brunnick; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Judy H. Rosenfeld

Judy H. Rosenfeld, 59, of North Las Vegas died Sunday in North Las Vegas. Born March 28, 1945, in New York, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by one daughter, Robin S. Fitzpatrick of East Meadow, N.Y.

Thomas T. Sorenson

Thomas T. Sorenson, 38, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born Dec. 16, 1965, in Las Vegas. A lifelong resident, he was a painter.

He is survived by his father, Theodore Sorenson of Mesquite; and one sister, Tracy Jones of Twin Falls, Idaho.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., followed by burial in Palm Memorial Park.

Ruth Stasiewicz

Ruth Stasiewicz, 75, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local care center. She was born Oct. 10, 1928, in Holly, Mich. A resident for 14 years, she was a retired teacher.

She is survived by her husband Gilbert; one son, Michael Stasiewicz of Las Vegas; one daughter, Kathy Zill of Henderson; and two grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

Bobby F. Taylor

Bobby F. Taylor, 61, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. He was born July 9, 1942, in Los Angeles. A resident for nine years, he was a retired bus driver and an Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara; six daughters, Vanessa Jones of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., Terina M. Nelson of Inglewood, Calif., Verslia Brown of Tyler, Texas, Shantelle Brown of West Covina, Calif., Danielle Wooten of Las Vegas and Sheri Smith of Whittier, Calif.; one son, Jonathan Brown of Phoenix; two sisters, Bettie Holyfield of Kansas City, Mo., and Fannie Belle Walker of Richmond, Calif.; one brother, Colman Ware of Las Vegas; 14 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to 10 a.m. services Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave., followed by burial in Palm Memorial Park, Northwest.

Josephine Carmella Von Dreele

Josephine Carmella Von Dreele, 79, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. She was born July 16, 1924, in New Jersey. A resident for four years, she owned and operated retail stores.

She is survived by two sons, Glenn Von Dreele and Wayne Von Dreele; two daughters, Susan Kimzey and Wendy Von Dreele; 10 grandchildren; and eight grandchildren.

Leona M. Zander

Leona M. Zander, 86, of Fallon died Monday in a local hospital. She was born April 14, 1918, in Illinois. A resident for six months, she was a retired supervisor.

She is survived by one son, Rick Zander of Pulaski, Va.; two daughters, Barbara Ryan of Henderson and Vicky Allen of Fallon; 10 grandchildren; and eight grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St.
