School holds bash for cancer patient
Aggie Roberts Elementary, 227 Charter Oak St., is holding a fund-raiser from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today to support one of its students, Brittany York, a cancer patient.
Dubbed "Brittany's Bash," the fund-raiser will include a silent auction, a raffle and a barbecue. Tickets are available for $10 in the office at the school.
Brittany, now 10, was diagnosed with acute lympoblastic leukemia before she turned 2. The money made at the bash could be used to help pay for a bone marrow transplant.
Councilman to speak about job growth
North Las Vegas Councilman William Robinson will speak on the future of job growth in Nevada during the Nevada JobConnect Grand re-opening at 10 a.m. Thursday at 2827 Las Vegas Blvd. North.
The office provides no-fee employment services, creating a single location for businesses seeking employees and people seeking employment.

The Southern Nevada Chapter of Service Corps
of Retired Executives will provide a $10 seminar discount after making an appointment for the free business counseling session "How to Really Start Your Own Business" from 9 a.m. to noon Monday and June 14 at 1951 Stella Lake St., Suite 5. To schedule an appointment, call 638-0853.
The public is welcome
