Letter: Drought not just a problem for our state
Saturday, March 6, 2004 | 1:55 a.m.
While I understand the drought problem in Southern Nevada, I also know the Mojave Desert extends to California. Why is the drought only our problem? What are our neighbors to the west doing to help in solving the water problem?
Why are we in Southern Nevada restricted in our water use when Californians keep getting Lake Mead water to irrigate their lawns and to keep their BMWs and SUVs clean to drive on the freeways? Plus keeping the Salton Sea alive!
If all of us in the West would conserve water, the burden would be placed on all Western states instead of just the folks in Las Vegas.
