SEC probes firings

Friday, March 5, 2004 | 9:49 a.m.

SEATTLE -- Boeing Co., the world's No. 2 planemaker, said the Securities and Exchange Commission requested information on the firing of former Chief Financial Officer Michael Sears and the Air Force official he had hired.

The Pentagon is investigating whether former U.S. government employee Darleen Druyun helped the company get favorable terms on a $17 billion deal to lease or sell 100 refueling tankers to the Air Force. Boeing said Sears offered Druyun a job while they were negotiating the transaction. Boeing fired both in November.
