Fishing Report: Weather slows area’s anglers

NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE

Stormy weather and poor fishing contributed to the low fishing pressure throughout Lake Mead. Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW) creel census clerks said that there was minimal activity to report in the upper basin.

A boater fishing near Sand Island landed a few small striped bass that ranged from 12-16 inches. The fish were taken with anchovies.

Two shore anglers fishing Hemenway Harbor and North Saddle Coves on Monday told NDOW that they had no luck fishing the area.

Hemenway Cove, Horsepower Cove, Pumphouse Cove and North Saddle Cove are scheduled to be stocked with rainbow trout today.

A few anglers fishing from shore at Willow Beach landed trout that averaged 12 inches. The fish were caught using PowerBait.

Placer Cove, Willow Beach, Aztec Wash and Cottonwood Cove are scheduled to be stocked with rainbow trout today.

Despite last week's rain and snow, both Haymeadows and Cold Springs are ice-free.

Fishing continued to be slow, but anglers did catch a few stocked rainbow trout. The fish were taken with PowerBait and worms.

Daytime temperatures were in the low 40s, while the nights dropped down as low as zero degrees.
