Cox Communications has announced that premium pay channels, including HBO, Showtime and Cinemax, will now be available only on its digital cable service in Las Vegas.
The digital shift also includes all of the cable company's pay-per-view offerings, including sporting events and movies. That change first became apparent in September 2003 when customers in Las Vegas were only able to order the Oscar De La Hoya-Shane Mosley fight if they had digital service.
Cox officials said the change should affect only about 5,000 of its roughly 401,000 Las Vegas-area customers.
