Jim Armato

Jim Armato, 83, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. A machine operator for a paving company and a World War II Navy veteran, he was born Oct. 19, 1920, in Illinois.

He is survived by his friend, Helen Bettinardi of Las Vegas.

Burial will be in Illinois. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Joseph Michael Baccari

Joseph Michael Baccari, 81, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. He was born July 7, 1922, in Atco, N.J. A resident for 43 years, he was a retired slot manager and a World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Catherine; three daughters, Diane Salt of Aurora, Colo., Yvonne Lorenz of Plymouth, Mich., and Renee Young of Las Vegas; three sons, Michael Salt of Aurora, Scott Lorenz of Plymouth and Mike Young of Las Vegas; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 5 p.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave.

Bruce Edward Bell

Bruce Edward Bell, 56, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born March 7, 1947, in Utah. A resident for 5 1/2 years, he was a pressroom foreman.

He is survived by his wife, Dyanne; one daughter, Tamra Peterson; three brothers, Keith, Paul and Mark; two sisters, Carol Georgia; and one grandchild.

Thelma B. Blevins

Thelma B. Blevins, 90, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local health care center. She was born May 31, 1913, in Texas. A resident for many years, she was a retired hotel housekeeper.

She is survived by her friend, Gulcin Hillman of Las Vegas.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St.

Earl William Bowes Sr.

Earl William Bowes Sr., 73, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. He was born Oct. 15, 1930, in Utica, N.Y. A resident for 17 years, he was a casino pit boss and dealer and an Army veteran.

He is survived by two sons, Bill Bowes and Earl Bowes III, both of Las Vegas; three daughters, Theresa M. Bowes and Debra Jones, both of Las Vegas, and Karen Popka of North Carolina; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A graveside memorial service will be 10 a.m. Thursday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.

Jerrold Burnell

Jerrold Burnell, 71, of Henderson died Monday in Henderson. He was born Nov. 29, 1932, in New York. A resident for 2 1/2 year, he was a retired university professor, an Army veteran and a member of the Comparative Education Society.

He is survived by his wife, Ellen; one daughter, Karen Milutinovic of Belgrade, Serbia; one brother, Raphael Burnstein of Chicago; and one granddaughter.

No local services are scheduled. Graveside services will be in Paramus, N.J. King David Memorial Chapel and Cemetery, 2697 Eldorado Lane, is handling arrangements.

Al Castellano

Al Castellano, 91, of Henderson died Sunday in Henderson. He was born Sept. 26, 1912, in Alessandria Della Roca, Italy. A resident for one year, he was a retired barber shop owner-operator.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Josephine; one daughter, Dolly Baldwin of Henderson; one son, Joseph Castellano of Port Hueneme, Calif.; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 9 a.m.-noon Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Graveside services will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.

Bill W. Chance, 69, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born March 9, 1934, in Canon City, Colo. A resident for 10 years, he was a retired owner-operator of a water heater company.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie J.; one daughter, Dianna Craft of Winchester, Calif.; two sons, Gary Chance of Murrieta, Calif., and Robert Chance of Las Vegas; four sisters, Doris Adams of Bend, Ore., Betty Bradbury of Sublimity, Ore., Barbara Lee Johnson of Lake Havasu City, Ariz., and Maybelle Clemons of San Jose, Calif.; one brother, George Chance of Oregon; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Dawna Jeane Cummings, 71, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospice. She was born July 22, 1932, in Salmon, Idaho. A resident for 54 years, she was a retired waitress.

She is survived by two daughters, Candace Rubyor-Larsson of Las Vegas and Nikkie Westphal of North Las Vegas; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Laura A. Hurtig, 61, of Henderson died Saturday in a local hospital. She was born May 24, 1942, in Hammond, La. A resident for 12 years, she was a retired dental hygienist.

She is survived by her husband, James; one daughter, Alison Atkins of Henderson; and two brothers, Lance Williams of Rolla, Mo., and Jim Williams of New Orleans, La.

Ronald V. Joyce

Ronald V. Joyce, 52, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born March 3, 1951, in Las Vegas. A lifelong resident, he was a self-employed computer animation architectural draftsman, a graduate of Boston University and MIT and a Las Vegas High School graduate.

He is survived by his mother, Helen Joyce of Biloxi, Miss.; and two sisters, Jill Schad of Lead, S.D., and Joy D'Amour of Las Vegas.

Mike Kaplan

Mike Kaplan, 84, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was born Oct. 25, 1919, in Chicago. A resident for 30 years, he was a retired businessman, a World War II Army veteran, a member of the Elks in Santa Ana, Calif., and B'nai B'rith's Nate Mack Lodge.

He is survived by his wife, Sally; two daughters, Terri Stern of Brentwood, Calif., and Staci Kaplan of Tarzana, Calif.; one son, Bradley Kaplan of Dallas; one brother, Harry Kaplan of Orange, Calif.; and four granddaughters.

A memorial service will be noon Friday in King David Memorial Chapel and Cemetery, 2697 Eldorado Lane.

Daniel G. Leavitt

Daniel G. Leavitt, 82, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. He was born Dec. 31, 1921. A resident for many years, he was a hotel, bar and restaurant salesman, an Army veteran and a member of the Masons, Shriners and Jewish War Veterans Post 65 in Henderson.

He is survived by his wife, Elaine Kaufer Leavitt; one son, Steve Leavitt; and one granddaughter.

Leon Luckett Sr.

Leon Luckett Sr., 51, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. He was born Jan. 26, 1953, in Louisiana. A resident for 40 years, he was a retired hotel cook and a Marine Corps veteran.

He is survived by two sons, Jamie Lee Luckett and Leon Jr.; one daughter, Shelletia Steward; his father, M.C. Bias; seven sisters, Patricia Bias, Deborah Bias, Ruth Bias, Sharmaine Hale, Mary Bias, Cynthia Bias and Laverne Bias; and three grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 10-11 a.m. Thursday in Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Graveside services will follow at noon Thursday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

Michael Allan Moore

Michael Allan Moore, 44, of Las Vegas died Sunday. A resident for 43 years, he was born Jan. 5, 1960, in Warren, Ohio.

He is survived by his mother, Carol McLeod.

Robert John Neville

Robert John Neville, 82, of North Las Vegas died Sunday in North Las Vegas. He was born May 3, 1921, in Muskegon, Mich. A resident for six years, he was a retired firefighter, a World War II Navy veteran, a member of the California State Firefighters Association and an associate member of the Royal British Legion.

He is survived by two daughters, Kathleen Maddi of North Las Vegas and Kelly Biethan of Big Bear City, Calif.; five grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Gino E. Pacini

Gino E. Pacini, 72, of Boulder City died Sunday in Boulder City. He was born Nov. 18, 1931, in Dos Palos, Calif. A resident for 35 years, he was a retired hydroelectric technician at Hoover Dam for 18 years, a Korean War Army veteran, and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Elks Lodge 1682, both in Boulder City.

He is survived by two daughters, Maria Williams of Henderson and Anita Pacini; one son, Mike Pacini of Boulder City; six sisters, Bruna Goold and Lillian Tortia, both of Gilroy, Calif., Mary Fletcher of San Jose, Calif.; Bernice Borboa of Los Banos, Calif.; Jenny Moretti of Challis, Idaho, and Carolyn Eubanks of Dos Palos, Calif.; two brothers, Carl Pacini of Firebaugh, Calif., and John Pacini Jr. of Dos Palos; and nine grandchildren.

Joyce Marie Releford

Joyce Marie Releford, 44, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospice. She was born Oct. 17, 1959, in Fordyce, Ark. A resident for 44 years, she was disabled.

She is survived by one brother, Michael Brown, two aunts, Lena Graham and Cora Hawkins, and one cousin, Joan Barrett, all of Las Vegas.

George Rodrigues

George Rodrigues, 81, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born April 23, 1922, in Kahili, Hawaii. A resident for 15 years, he was a national administrator for girls softball and a member of the Puerto Rican Union Mutual Aid.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Geraldine Rivera.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Johnye; five daughters, Georgette Rodrigues of Newark, Calif., Gwen Rodrigues of California, Trudy Rodrigues-Chavez of Hayward, Calif., and Lisa Houser and Kathy Rodrigues-Rodriguez, both of Las Vegas; one son, George Rodrigues Jr. of California; one sister, Hattie Rodrigues of Las Vegas; two brothers, Daniel Rodrigues of Las Vegas and Peter Rodrigues of California; 20 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

William L. Sistek Jr.

William L. Sistek Jr., 90, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local health care center. He was born Dec. 23, 1913, in Leechburg, Pa. A resident for 41 years, he retired after 22 years as a senior license inspector for Las Vegas and was a World War II Army and Marine Corps veteran who served in Iwo Jima.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley; four sons, William Sistek III of Reno, Robert Sistek of Las Vegas, Charles Sistek of Goldendale, Wash., and Louis Sistek of Longview, Texas; one daughter, Linda Kelley of Owings, Md.; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Visitation is scheduled 90 minutes prior to a 2:30 p.m. service Friday in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Park, Henderson.

Robert G. Smart, 44, of Las Vegas died Saturday. A computer network specialist, he was born June 21, 1959, in San Pedro, Calif.

He is survived by one daughter, Bobbi Lee Smart, and one son, William Jay Smart, both of Anaheim, Calif., his father, Robert R. Smart, and one brother, Richard Smart, both of Las Vegas; and two sisters, Debbie Perez of Las Vegas and Merri Ann Smart of Quail Valley, Calif.

Stella Stanko

Stella Stanko, 96, of Henderson died Monday in a local care center. She was born May 8, 1907, in New Jersey. A resident for 28 years, she was a retired teacher.

She is survived by one daughter, Bea Smith of Henderson; two sisters, Pauline Liebler of Massillon, Ohio, and Laura Feeney of Laguna Beach, Calif.; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Donald R. Taylor

Donald R. Taylor, 77, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born June 4, 1926, in Canton, Ohio. A resident for 16 years, he was a World War II Navy veteran and a member of Teamsters Local 630.

He is survived by his wife, Rosella M.; and three brothers, Charles W. Taylor of Canton, Ohio, Robert E. Taylor of Oregon City, Ore., and Leroy P. Taylor of Manhattan Beach, Calif.

Fauono Vaifale, 77, of Las Vegas died Feb. 25 in a local hospital. He was born June 11, 1926, in Fagaloa, Western Samoa. A resident for eight years, he was a retired cultural center village chief.

He is survived by six daughters, Moevanu Buttel and Filupe Auimatagi, both of Las Vegas, Faalili Aurlua of Honolulu and Flora Santiago, Misirita Matagi and Sara Vaifale, all of Salt Lake City; four sons, Junior Auelue of Torrance, Calif., Suauu Auelue of Salt Lake City, Maselino Pese of California and Si'ulepa Auelue of American Samoa; two sisters, Pona Unutoa of Roy, Utah, Moevanu Edwards of Utah; two brothers, Ualapa Fonoti of Ogden, Utah, and Letane Fonoti of Murray, Utah; 24 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Gene West, 68, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born Dec. 24, 1935, in Sedalia, Mo. A resident for 41 years, he was a retired telephone company supervisor.

He is survived by his wife, Marrietta; four sons, Steven West of Priest Lake, Idaho, Barry West of Las Vegas, Gary West of Porterville, Calif., and Kenny West of Henderson; one daughter, Pam Gubler of Las Vegas; his mother, Lucille West of Mentone, Calif.; one brother, John West of Grants Pass, Ore.; and nine grandchildren.
