Holistic health care for pets offered

Senior Friends will present Holistic Health Care for Your Pets from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Green Valley Senior Friends, 2809 N. Green Valley Parkway.

Dr. Nancy Brandt, a veterinarian from the Natural Care Institute, and Pearl Johnstone from Professional Pet Portraits and Grooming will discuss holistic health care for pets. Also, learn how to treat pet holistically to avoid costly bills later.

Jewish center plans a day of bowling

The Jewish Community Center is offering an afternoon of bowling at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Suncoast.

There will be hamantaschen for noshing and prizes for the winning teams. All levels of bowlers are encouraged to register for the event.

An optional dinner at the St. Tropez Buffet inside the Suncoast is being planned for those interested.

The cost is $10 for JCC members and $12 for nonmembers, but dinner is not included in the price.

Also, the JCC Film Club is offering a Connections program at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Summerlin/Sun City area. The film club will meet every four to six weeks at different members' homes. The group will be expected to pre-screen a given movie and will then meet and discuss the movie with film expert Donald Barrett.

JCC membership is required and you must be a member of Connections.

Neighborhood justice topic of luncheon

Community Associations Institute will host an association luncheon featuring the topic of neighborhood justice at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Palace Station.

Subjects such as anger management and conflict resolution between homeowners and neighbors will be discussed. Guest speaker will be Barbara Strahl, senior mediation specialist from the Neighborhood Justice Center.

The purpose of CAI is to further educate community association managers, the boards that govern the associations and the homeowner living in them.

Admission is $25; $22 for non-members and $20 for members who RSVP.

DNA LifePrint available for kids

Ensign Federal Credit Union will present the DNA LifePrint Kit, a free child safety program, endorsed by child advocate and television personality John Walsh, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at 1300 Warm Springs Road, Henderson.

The kit is noninvasive; meaning no blood is taken or handled. The procedure is simply rubbing the inside of the child's cheek for several seconds with the applicator in the kit. The applicator is then inserted into a fixative solution, contained in the vial ... and the child's DNA is captured and will be preserved for more than 80 years.

Organ donor group offers new website

The Nevada Organ and Tissue Donation Task Force has announced the creation of a website to increase organ donor awareness.

Frankie Sue Del Papa and Assemblywoman Dawns Gibbons, co-chairwomen of the task force, are encouraging Nevada citizens to visit giftoflife.nv.gov, which contains information about making donations; purchasing the organ donor license plate; most frequently asked questions on organ donation, as well as providing links to other helpful websites.
