Jazz in the Park concert Saturday
Pianist Danilo Perez will perform at the last of the four free Jazz in the Park concerts at 8 p.m. Saturday at the County Government Center Amphitheater, 500 S. Grand Central Parkway.
Perez is a traditional jazz artist who combines elements of his Panamanian heritage with African influences to create a unique and rhythmically adventurous sound.
The Clark County Amphitheater features lawn seating and ample free parking. Picnics are welcome or concert-goers can purchase food from vendors. No pets are allowed in the amphitheater. Call 455-8200.
Red Cross hosts 'Kiss Me Kate'
The Southern Nevada Chapter of the American Red Cross is hosting an evening under the stars featuring the musical "Kiss Me Kate" at 6 p.m. Sunday at Spring Mountain Ranch State Park in Red Rock Canyon.
The event includes raffle prize give-a-ways and contests for best picnic displays. Bring your blanket, and picnic basket.
Roy A. Chavez Alvarado
will present a poetry writing workshop from 10 a.m. to noon and a poetry reading workshop from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Saturday at the North Las Vegas Library Community Room, 2300 Civic Center Drive, North Las Vegas. Call 633-1070.
