John Arata

John Arata, 86, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local care center. He was born Nov. 22, 1917, in Montebello, Calif. A resident for 50 years, he was a retired hotel maintenance supervisor, a World War II Army veteran and a member of Teamsters Local 995.

He is survived by his cousin, Joanne Bartha of Las Vegas.

Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., is handling arrangements.

Bartley B. Basche

Bartley B. Basche, 78, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. He was born Nov. 21, 1925, in Minnesota. A resident for 17 years, he owned a manufacturing company, was a Navy veteran and a member of Henderson Elks Lodge 2353.

He is survived by his wife, Betty; one daughter, Deborah; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.

Carol A. Bosley

Carol A. Bosley, 64, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. She was born Dec. 25, 1939, in Los Angeles. A resident for 33 years, she was a retired county government eligibility worker.

She is survived by two sons, Thomas Bosley of Las Vegas and Timothy Bosley of Winslow, Ariz.; one daughter, Brenda Bosley, and her father, Edwin T. Reeves of Las Vegas; and three grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 1:20 p.m. Wednesday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Marjorie R. Christensen

Marjorie R. Christensen, 84, of Henderson died Saturday in a local hospice. She was born June 26, 1919, in McGill. A resident for 60 years, she was a retired hospital histologist, a member of PEO Eastern Star, Senior Citizens Board and Salvation Army.

She is survived by three sons, Dean A. Christensen of Marysville, Ohio, James L. Christensen of Tyrone, Ga., and John A. Christensen of Henderson; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 2-7 p.m. Wednesday in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson. Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday in Palm Chapel, Henderson. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.

The family suggests donations to St. Timothy's Episcopal Church, 43 W. Pacific Ave., Henderson, NV 89009.

Burnette B. Hughes

Burnette B. Hughes, 98, of Henderson died Thursday in a local care center. He was born May 4, 1906, in Pace, Miss. A resident for 1 1/2 years, he was a retired steel mill laborer.

He is survived by his wife, Eugenia; one son, Burnette Hughes Jr. of Henderson; one brother, George Hughes of Youngstown, Ohio; 15 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and 26 great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 9-11 a.m. Friday in Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd. Graveside services will be noon Friday in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson.

Carolyn Marie LeBow

Carolyn Marie LeBow, 71, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. She was born Aug. 3, 1932, in Earl Park, Ind. A resident for 15 years, she was a homemaker and a member of Las Vegas Country Club.

She is survived by her husband, Byron; and two sons, Steven LeBow and Robert LeBow, both of Henderson.

Visitation is scheduled 3-7 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Services and burial will be private.

Jeanette K. Martin

Jeanette K. Martin, 86, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. She was born March 21, 1918, in Ohio. A resident for 26 years, she was a retired civil service instrument technologist.

She is survived by two daughters, Joanette Emery of Las Vegas and Jeanine Robinson of Crestview, Fla.; one brother, Ed Kriegel of Celina, Ohio; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Fred W. Michaels

Fred W. Michaels, 89, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was born July 19, 1914, in Erlanger, Ky. A resident for 52 years, he was a retired hotel operating engineer and a World War II Navy veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Mary E.; one daughter, Hazel Black of Las Vegas; one sister, Mary Louise Michaels of Sun City, Ariz.; one grandchild; and two great-grandchildren.

Services were scheduled at 10 a.m. today in St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church, 1111 Michael Way. Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd., handled arrangements.

Leola H. Nichlas

Leola H. Nichlas, 79, of Las Vegas died Thursday in a local hospital. She was born March 29, 1925, in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. A resident for eight years, she was a retired registered nurse and a member of the board of directors of Make A Wish Foundation and a founding member.

She is survived by two daughters, Ann L. Spann of Reno and Diane A. Barnett of Las Vegas; and one grandchild.

Aude N. Pace

Aude N. Pace, 70, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. She was born Nov. 28, 1933, in Vandalia, Ill. A resident for 10 years, she was a retired hotel hostess.

She is survived by one son, Gary Hall of Sonora, Calif.; one daughter, Phyllis Hall of California; three sisters, Virginia Yenny of St. Louis, Helen Seets of Morton, Ill., and June Walker of Dayton, Ohio; and one brother, William Dowds of E. Peoria, Ill.

Michael Reinharcz

Michael Reinharcz, 80, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospital. He was born Jan. 29, 1924, in Porostov, Czechoslovakia. A resident for 20 years, he was a retired waiter and a member of the Holocaust Survivors Group.

Graveside services will be noon Wednesday in King David Memorial Chapel and Cemetery, 2697 Eldorado Lane.

Rosa Elena Rosales

Rosa Elena Rosales, 63, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. She was born Dec. 24, 1940, in Mexico. A resident for 34 years, she was a retired casino head hostess.

She is survived by her husband, Tony; two sons, Tony Jr. and David; two daughters, Laura Giorgione and Rosa Merrick; one sister, Carmen Williams; and seven grandchildren.

Patrick Lee Schaffer

Patrick Lee Schaffer, 73, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospice. He was born May 18, 1931, in Flint, Mich. A resident for 35 years, he was a retired retail grocery clerk.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; one son, Michael Schaffer, and two daughters, Theresa Schaffer and Kathleen Schaffer, all of Las Vegas.

Nicolina Stella

Nicolina Stella, 89, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local care center. She was born Nov. 11, 1914, in Chicago. A resident for 41 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by one daughter, Rosemary Stella, and one son, Robert Stella, both of Las Vegas; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Visitation was scheduled noon until a 3 p.m. service today in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., followed by burial in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.

Russell O. Switzer

Russell O. Switzer, 82, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. He was born Jan. 25, 1922, in Dallas. A resident for 19 years, he was a retired Air Force tech sergeant, a World War II veteran and a volunteer at the pharmacy at Nellis Air Force Base.

He was preceded in death by one son, Paul in 1978.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy; one daughter, Linda Klee of Las Vegas; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

A memorial service is scheduled 1 p.m. Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St.

Irene Beatrice Wallace

Irene Beatrice Wallace, 82, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. She was born Feb. 19, 1922, in Marlboro, Mass. A resident for 18 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by three sons, Alan Wallace of Victorville, Calif., Keith Wallace of Alta Loma, Calif., and Wayne Wallace of Hemet, Calif.; one daughter, Ruth Combs of Las Vegas; and one sister, Velma Hudson of Lake Havasu City, Ariz.

No local services are scheduled. Burial will be in Loma Linda, Calif. Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.
