No charges filed in new attack by three pit bulls

No charges have been filed after three pit bulls on the run attacked four people on Friday night, Metro Police said.

Officers responded to Sahara and Eastern avenues about 8:30 p.m. after reports that four people had been bitten by the trio of dogs, Metro Lt. Les Lane said.

One person was hospitalized and three others were treated at the scene, he said. The person taken to a local hospital was not seriously wounded.

The dogs had initially been seen at St. Louis and Eastern avenues.

One of the dogs was shot and killed by a Metro officer, a second was attacked and killed by a resident throwing rocks and a third was captured by Animal Control and is being kept to see if an owner claims the dog, Lane said.

As of Sunday the owner of the surviving dog had not contacted animal control officers or police.

"There won't be any charges filed unless police can find the owner," Lane said.
