Robbers of cab driver sought
Wednesday, July 21, 2004 | 9:48 a.m.
Metro Police are searching for two men who forced a North Las Vegas Cab driver into his trunk early Sunday and robbed him.
The driver had picked up the two men near The Orleans hotel-casino at Arville Street and Tropicana Avenue about 2 a.m. The men put luggage in the trunk and asked the driver to take them to Jones Boulevard and Edna Avenue on the west side.
When they arrived at that destination the driver opened the trunk and one of the suspects put a semi-automatic handgun to his head, police said. A suspect told the driver if he didn't get into the trunk he would shoot him.
The suspects stole the driver's money and closed and locked the trunk, leaving the car running, police said. The cabbie was discovered several hours later by a person living in the area.
Both suspects are described as between the ages of 25 and 35. The suspect who had the handgun is 5-feet 11-inches to 6 feet tall and has a medium build. He has collar-length brown hair, a mustache, long nose and teeth with smoker stains. He was wearing a black beret, white T-shirt, jeans and white and black sneakers.
The other suspect is about 5-feet 8-inches tall with a stocky build and round face. He has dark brown hair and was clean shaven. He wore a dark blue baseball cap, orange T-shirt, red pants and white sneakers.
Anyone with information is asked to call Metro's robbery section at 229-3591 or Crime Stoppers at 385-5555.
