Claude J. Brantley Jr.

Claude J. Brantley Jr., 81, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospice. He was born May 13, 1922, in Memphis, Tenn. A resident for four years, he was a city government investigator and a World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley M.; one son, Darren S. Brantley, and two sisters, Agnes Siliger and Bonnie Ellis, all of Chicago.

Visitation is scheduled 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Graveside services will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.

Richard C. Butcher

Richard C. Butcher, 60, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born July 17, 1943, in Indianapolis. A resident for 26 years, he was a retired pharmaceutical salesman.

He is survived by two sons, Richard G. Butcher and Scott E. Butcher, both of Las Vegas; two sisters, Shirley Greenway and Jackie Spears, both of Hesperia, Calif.; three brothers, Tom Butcher and Frank Butcher, both of Phoenix, and Bob Butcher of Anaheim Hills, Calif.; and three grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave. Graveside services will follow at 2 p.m. Saturday in Palm Memorial Park, Northwest, 6701 N. Jones Blvd.

The family suggests donations to the American Cancer Society, 1325 E. Harmon Ave., Las Vegas, NV 89119.

Pedro Cabrido

Pedro Cabrido, 73, of Henderson died Saturday in Henderson. He was born Feb. 23, 1930, in Wailuku, Hawaii. A resident for 10 years, he was a Marine Corps veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Lillian; one daughter, Millie Matney; one son, Anthony Cabrido; one sister, Pauline Villa; and four brothers, Fabiano Cabrido, Anatalio Cabrido, Raymond Cabrido and Sunday Cabrido.

Visitation is scheduled 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday in Nevada Funeral Service-Nevada Cremation or Burial Society, 2983 Fremont St.

Barbara L. Carey

Barbara L. Carey, 51, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. She was born July 27, 1952, in Casper, Wyo. A resident for 12 years, she was a city librarian.

She is survived by two sons, Harley Carey of Henderson and Cody Carey of Las Vegas; her parents, E.W. and Carol Newland of Hollister, Calif.; two sisters, Susan Tanner of Santa Cruz, Calif., and Nancy Newland of Missouri; and her companion, Richard Carey of Henderson.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Friday in Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd.

The family suggests donations to Friends of Southern Nevada Library.

Phillip C. Dioguardi

Phillip C. Dioguardi, 86, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was born Jan. 17, 1918, in Chicago. A resident for 59 years, he was a retired casino host, a World War II Army veteran and a member of the Italian American Club.

He is survived by his wife, Sybil; two daughters, Michelle Strahler of Las Vegas and Mary Ann Whitmore of Austin, Texas; two sons, Michael Dioguardi of Moapa and Bob Bishop of Las Vegas; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 2-7 p.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday in St. Anne Catholic Church, 1901 S. Maryland Parkway. Burial will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.

Carmelo Dominguez

Carmelo Dominguez, 87, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born Feb. 22, 1916, in Ciales, Puerto Rico. A resident for 27 years, he was a carpenter.

He is survived by his wife, Isabel; two sons, Manuel Dominguez of Cypress Hills, N.Y., and George Dominguez of Staten Island, N.Y.; four daughters, Ruth Catt of West Palm Beach, Fla., Elizabeth Diaz of El Monte, Calif., Naomi Thomas of Paprona, Calif., and Luz Myrna Alton of Las Vegas; 17 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 4-7 p.m. Friday in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Services will be noon Saturday in Greater Mount Sinai Christian Church, 1025 Balzar St. Burial will follow in Paradise Memorial Gardens, 6200 S. Eastern Ave.

David K. Elliott

David K. Elliott, 78, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born July 11, 1925, in Idaho. A resident for 20 years, he was a retired construction laborer, a Marine Corps veteran, past exalted ruler of the Elks and a member of Knights of Columbus 4th Degree 4523.

He is survived by his wife, Della R.; two sons, David K. Elliott II and Philbert R. Elliott; one daughter, Sherry Trenton; three brothers, Ronnie Elliott, Chuck Ware and Budlee Wilson; one sister, Patricia Herrick; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

No local services are scheduled. Burial will be in Long Beach, Calif. Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.

Le Roy Thomas Gould

Le Roy Thomas Gould, 85, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born July 26, 1918, in Colfax, Iowa. A resident for 40 years, he was a retired aviation supervisor and a World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by one son, Michael Gould of Las Vegas; and one daughter, Sandy Morris of Green Valley, Ariz.

Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd., is handling private arrangements.

Frank Juliano

Frank Juliano, 84, of Las Vegas died Thursday in a local hospital. He was born March 8, 1919, in Fairview, N.J. A resident for 31 years, he was a retired bricklayer, a member of the Bricklayers Union for 50 years, and was a World War II Army veteran who received the Soldiers Medal of Valor.

He is survived by one daughter, Donna Clough of Las Vegas; one sister, Joan Daniel of Richfield, N.J.; two brothers, Sam Juliano and Al Juliano, both of Fairview; and one grandchild.

Services will be 9 a.m. Friday in Our Lady of Las Vegas Catholic Church, 3050 Alta Drive. Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.

Fred Kastner

Fred Kastner, 91, of North Las Vegas died Saturday in a local care center. He was born Jan. 19, 1912, in the Philippines. A resident for 13 years, he was a retired chief plant engineer for a rope manufacturer.

He is survived by two sons, Antonio Kastner of Los Angeles and Ramone Kastner of Mesa, Ariz.; one sister, Lucy Garcia of the Philippines; and four grandchildren.

Visitation will continue until 7 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday in Palm Chapel, Eastern. Burial will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.

Elliott J. King

Elliott J. King, 84, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. He was born Sept. 4, 1919, in Jim Falls, Wis. A resident for more than 50 years, he was a retired pharmacist and a World War II Army Air Corps veteran.

He is survived by two sons, Greg King of Las Vegas and Joe King of Henderson; one daughter, Ellisa King of Las Vegas; and five grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. today with a 6 p.m. service in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Anne Catholic Church, 1901 S. Maryland Parkway. Burial will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.

Simon Kubala

Simon Kubala, 75, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born Oct. 26, 1928, in Pas De Calais, France. A resident for 35 years, he was a retired teacher, a Vietnam War Air Force veteran and a member of the French Alliance.

He is survived by his wife, Maria; one son, Dennis Kubala, one daughter, Lisa Villa-Real, and three stepdaughters, Maria Carr, Eustolia Cerna and Lupita Cerna, all of Las Vegas; one brother, Josef Kubala of France; and three grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 4 p.m. until a 6 p.m. service Friday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave.

Milo G. Meling

Milo G. Meling, 73, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospice. He was born July 28, 1930, in Albert Lea, Minn. A resident for 13 years, he was a retired electrical engineer for a utility, an Air Force veteran, a member of the Masons and the American Legion.

He is survived by his wife, Mary L.; and one son, Michael D. Meling of North Las Vegas.

Linda Kaye Moore

Linda Kaye Moore, 51, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. She was born June 21, 1952, in Tucson. A resident for 47 years, she was a cosmetologist, a member of Queen Vashti Grand Chapter Order of the Eastern Star of Nevada and the Meister Singers.

She is survived by her father, John Buckles of Natchez, Miss.; four sisters, Debra Whittington and Sharon Harris, both of North Las Vegas, and Helen Williams and Dallena Young, both of Las Vegas; and four brothers, Michael Buckles, Tony Johnson and Tyrone Seals, all of Las Vegas, and Dwight Word of Wichita Falls, Texas.

Visitation is scheduled 3-7 p.m. Thursday in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday in New Bethel Baptist Church, 400 W. Adams Ave. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Jennie Pupchek

Jennie Pupchek, 81, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. She was born Oct. 7, 1922, in New York City. A resident for one year, she was a retired laundry owner-operator.

She is survived by one niece, Linda Hallgren of Las Vegas.

Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to an 11 a.m. service Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave.

Tamorah Sue Scanlon

Tamorah Sue Scanlon, 51, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. She was born April 3, 1952, in Danville, Ill. A resident for 15 years, she was an accountant.

She is survived by her husband, Jerold M.; one sister, Janie Watson of Peoria, Ill.

A memorial service will be 4 p.m. Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave.

Joe Steiger

Joe Steiger, 82, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. He was born Dec. 14, 1921, in South Dakota. A resident for more than five years, he was a professional golfer, an Army Air Corps veteran and a member of the PGA for more than 50 years.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy; one son, John Steiger of Livermore, Calif.; three daughters, Pam Brekas of Brentwood, Calif., Kathi Holliman of Overland Park, Kan., and Teresa Veloz; one sister, Idella Smith of Gresham, Ore.; and seven grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Sunday in Trinity Assembly of God Church, 750 S. Big Five Road, Pahrump. Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.

Emberly K. Thomas, 19, of North Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. She was born July 13, 1984, in Texas. A resident for 17 years, she was a student involved in travel, tourism and band.

She is survived by her mother, Shotzie Thomas of North Las Vegas; one brother, Daniel Lindsey, one sister, Mercedes Lindsey, and her grandmother, Helen Thomas, all of Las Vegas; and her grandfather, Irvin Heard of Louisiana.

Visitation is scheduled 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Thursday in American Burial and Cremation Services, 310 Foremaster Lane. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday in First African Methodist Episcopal Church, 2450 Revere St., North Las Vegas. Burial will follow in Paradise Memorial Gardens, 6200 S. Eastern Ave.

Kay Yang

Kay Yang, 58, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospice. She was born May 9, 1945, in Seoul, Korea. A resident for 28 years, she was a dealer.

She is survived by one daughter, Mary Lou Yang, and one sister, Kyong-Sook Qualls, both of Las Vegas.

Ann Rose Zarrella

Ann Rose Zarrella, 81, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. She was born Oct. 9, 1922, in Connecticut. A resident for five years, she was a retired grocery clerk.

She is survived by one son, Michael Zarrella of Las Vegas; one daughter, Anne Marie Malone of Garden Grove, Calif.; one brother, John Sorentino of Bridgeport, Conn.; two sisters, Lucy Stoverchy of Stratford, Conn., and Margaret Collaro of Richmond, Calif.; and three grandchildren.
