CARSON CITY -- Nevada's Supreme Court justices didn't do much campaign fund-raising last year, according to their disclosure reports.
Chief Justice Miriam Shearing and Justices Deborah Agosti, Bill Maupin and Nancy Becker filed their campaign contribution reports this week with the secretary of state's office, and those indicated that none of the four collected campaign donations last year.
Agosti, who is up for re-election this year, reported she had $18,302 in her campaign fund as of Jan. 1, 2003, and spent $5,071 during the year, ending up with $13,231 last month. Becker reported she spent $121 from her campaign funds in 2003. She had $5,795 cash on hand in December last year.
Maupin's report shows he had $19,120 in leftover campaign funds in January 2003 and spent $2,964, ending up with $16,156 at the end of the year.
Shearing, who has announced she will not run for re-election this year, reported she did not collect any campaign money, did not spend any money and has a zero balance starting in January 2003 and ending up this December.
Justice Mark Gibbons, who was elected in 2002, reported he received a $5,000 contribution from Liberty Oil & Refining of Las Vegas in January last year.
Justice Bob Rose, who said he won't run for re-election at the expiration of his term in two years, reported he did not collect any contributions during past year. He had $1,886 left over from a prior campaign and spent it all last year, leaving him a zero balance.
