A Las Vegas man who used his flatbed truck to rescue people caught in August's flash flooding was one of 26 individuals and seven Metro Police units honored by Sheriff Bill Young this week.
During the flash flooding on Aug. 19 in northwest Las Vegas, Ron Dehro helped Metro officers rescue an elderly couple who were stuck in their submerged car at Craig Road and Tioga Way. He then drove his flatbed truck to another disabled vehicle, rescued the occupants, and helped officers with other rescues. He received a certificate of appreciation.
