LV Council OKs guidelines for Kyle Canyon Gateway

The Las Vegas City Council on Wednesday unanimously approved a resolution that lays out what city officials will expect in the development of 1,710 acres around the intersection of U.S. 95 and Kyle Canyon Road, which is slated to be sold at a February auction.

The general development guidelines approved in a 7-0 council vote include an expectation that about 9,500 homes will be built on the land, 245 acres will be set aside for public uses such as schools and parks, and that there will be an effort to preserve the desert arroyos and washes.

The land, which is being called the Kyle Canyon Gateway Area, is expected to be sold at a Bureau of Land Management auction on Feb. 2, City Comprehensive Planning Manager Tom Perrigo said.

The minimum sale price has been set at $323 million, he said.
