Las Vegas-based Ameristar Casinos Inc. said first quarter net income increased 35.7 percent from the year-ago quarter to $15.9 million. On a per-share basis, profit jumped from 44 cents in the 2003 quarter to 58 cents for the quarter ended March 31.
