One dies in alleged hit and run

A Las Vegas woman was hit and killed by a pickup truck Sunday as she leaned into her sport utility vehicle parked in front of her house on Christy Lane near Charleston Boulevard, Metro Police said.

Ronaldo Espinosa, 32, was arrested for felony driving under the influence and hit and run.

The crash occurred shortly before 6 a.m. The victim, whose name has not been released, was leaning over the left rear seat of 1995 Honda Passport parked at the east curb on Christy Lane.

Espinosa, heading south on Christy Lane, drifted to the northbound lane and hit the back of the Honda. The victim was thrown, police said. Espinosa's pickup swerved into a private driveway and ran over the victim and hit a Dodge Colt, police said.

Espinosa backed out of the driveway and fled south on Christy Lane but was apprehended a short time later at Arizona Avenue and Arden Street.

Police discovered Espinosa also had a bench warrant for domestic violence. He was booked into the Clark County Detention Center on that and felony driving under the influence charges.

The woman, whose name was not released, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
