Los Angeles police are searching for suspects in the robbery and shooting death of Las Vegas restaurant manager Vincent McCallum.
McCallum, 54, was apparently ambushed at a home in Ladera Heights, an upscale Los Angeles suburb, and shot to death about 11 p.m. Wednesday, police said.
McCallum's partner, Tim Gilmore, said he operated four restaurants, three in Los Angeles and one in Las Vegas. The Las Vegas restaurant is M&M Soul Food in the 4400 block of South Jones Boulevard.
"Someone apparently ambushed him from behind some bushes," Gilmore said. "Somebody knew he was carrying money."
McCallum had collected about $60,000 from the Los Angeles restaurants before returning to the home, Gilmore said. About $32,000 was stolen, and police found the rest in McCallum's car.
"He's going to be missed," Gilmore said.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday at the Crenshaw Christian Center in Los Angeles.
