Letter: Bush lied from first day on job
Friday, Sept. 26, 2003 | 9:47 a.m.
Why do so many Americans, especially Republicans, not see the lying, secretive ways of the Bush administration?
It started from the moment George W. Bush took office when White House spokesman Ari Fleischer went on television day after day reporting on the terrible acts of vandalism the Clinton staff had committed. The right-wing media joined in, reporting for weeks, in detail, all the disgusting things that had been done.
Rep. Bob Barr, R-Ga., was so outraged he demanded an investigation. Fourteen months later, after Fleisher and the right-wing press had many Americans believing their lies, the investigation's final 217-page report comes out with the information that no damage had been found in the White House or Executive Office Building.
Too bad the media didn't make as big a deal out of finding out the truth as they did when they reported on all the lies aimed at trying to make President Clinton and his staff look bad even when leaving.
The Bush administration started out lying and they keep getting better and better at it. I guess there's truth to the old saying, "Practice makes perfect."
