Las Vegas FedEx operation readying for new policy

FedEx Freight's newly expanded Las Vegas depot is gearing up to handle a new money-back guarantee policy similar to those offered by other FedEx divisions.
The Memphis, Tenn.-based package transport company announced last week that it will offer the same guaranteed delivery policy with FedEx Freight as it does with other divisions of the FedEx Corp. family of companies.
FedEx Freight earlier this year opened a new depot on Lamb Boulevard north of Craig Road that more than doubles the capacity of its Las Vegas operation.
Kathy Keller, a spokeswoman for FedEx Freight, said its 72-door terminal opened in February and became fully operational in the spring. The Las Vegas operation, which formerly used a 34-door terminal, handles an average of 668,000 pounds of freight per business day.
She said most freight orders involve shipments averaging 1,000 pounds, but the freight division handles orders as small as 150 pounds.
Keller said FedEx Freight in Las Vegas primarily serves business-to-business clients, while other divisions of FedEx are more active in package deliveries for clients working at the city's numerous conventions.
