Letter: Stop trying to change Nevada
Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2003 | 9:19 a.m.
On Sept. 5 letter writer Sylvia Lampe Gross wrote that we must all pay our fair share of taxes. That is correct. We must all pay our fair share.
As a born-and-bred Las Vegan I resent the people who have moved here and tried to turn Las Vegas into California East. I am tired of paying for those who move here and want someone else to pay their way.
I would rather have a coyote for a neighbor than some of the people who think that Las Vegas and Nevada must now provide all the services that they got in California or elsewhere. I know the coyote won't be asking me for more money.
I would like to be able to drive on U.S. 95 without being driven into the divider by someone from somewhere else. If you want the level of service you got elsewhere -- go back. Leave the desert to those of us who like it the way it is and quit trying to change Nevada into your utopia.
