Man shot in parking lot of topless club
Thursday, Oct. 30, 2003 | 9:53 a.m.
A shooting outside the Crazy Horse Too topless club early this morning put one man in the hospital with three gunshot wounds.
Police were searching for the shooter this morning.
The victim, whom police did not identify, was shot at least once in the arm. His wounds were not life threatening, Metro Police spokesman Officer Jose Montoya said.
A club manager who identified himself only as Joe said club staff working the front door at the time of the shooting said neither the shooter nor victim had been in the club earlier or were club employees.
Montoya said that according to witnesses, a black Lincoln Navigator pulled into the parking lot of the club on Industrial Road about 3 a.m. The driver of the Navigator then got into an argument with an individual in the parking lot, he said.
The person in the lot then pulled out a handgun and shot several times at the driver.
The victim was taken to the hospital by ambulance. Montoya said the victim was likely taken to University Medical Center.
Montoya said the victim has not been cooperating fully with police investigators.
"He's not giving a lot of information," Montoya said.
Montoya said he didn't know what the motive for the shooting was.
Violence has erupted in and around the club before.
In September 2001 a Kansas City man alleged that his neck was broken in an altercation with a bouncer at the Crazy Horse Too. Kirk Henry has filed a lawsuit against the club that is expected to go to trial in Clark County District Court next year.
In August 1995 a California man was found beaten to death near the club. The family of Scott Fau alleged that he was beaten to death by the club's bouncers. In January a jury sided with the club in the case.
The club also caught headlines earlier this year when on Feb. 20, the club was raided by FBI agents in connection with a federal investigation into possible ties between the club and organized crime. No charges have been filed.
