Winifred M. Acker

Winifred M. Acker, 91, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. She was born July 8, 1912, in Paterson, N.J. A resident for 25 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by three daughters, Bernadette Adkins of Las Vegas, Eileen Shumate of Phoenix and Catherine Wagner of Midland, Texas; one son, Thomas Acker of Austin, Texas; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

No local services are scheduled. Services and burial will be in New Mexico. Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Wayne Edward Anderson

Wayne Edward Anderson, 65, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospice. He was born Aug. 12, 1938, in North Dakota. A resident for 45 years, he worked in the plumbing industry and was an Air Force veteran.

He is survived by two daughters, Susan B. Sepulveda of Littleton, Colo., and Deborah Estes; two sisters, LoAnne Stewart and Terry Wegner; and six grandchildren.

Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.

Fred C. Brenner

Fred C. Brenner, 90, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born April 16, 1913, in Thorpe, Wis. A resident for 43 years, he was a retired electrician, a member of Masonic Lodge 32, a member of the Scottish Rite Bodies and a member of Elks Lodge 1482.

He is survived by two sons, Russell Brenner and Larry Brenner, and one stepson, Glenn Degallier, all of Kelso, Wash.; two sisters, Clara Rasmussen of Kelso and Lucille Krupa of Cornell, Wis.; 10 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Graveside services will follow in Palm Memorial Park.

The family suggests donations to the Nathan Adelson Hospice, 4141 S. Swenson St., Las Vegas, NV 89119, or the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, 4830 W. Flamingo Road, Las Vegas, NV 89121.

Josephine Carmona

Josephine Carmona, 65, of North Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. She was born Dec. 31, 1937, in Las Vegas. A lifelong resident, she was self-employed in the community resources field and was currently retired.

She is survived by her husband, Michael; five children, Lawrence Sandoval, Lupe Harris, Nelson Sandoval, Ted Sandoval and Martin Sandoval; four sisters, Sara Sandoval, Deloris Birbage, Rosie Mayorga and Mercy Laush; one brother, Eulalio Zarate; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Visitation is scheduled 2 p.m. until a 7 p.m. service today in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Holy Family Catholic Church, 4490 Mountain Vista St. Graveside services will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

David Conwit

David Conwit, 75, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was born Sept. 6, 1928, in Brooklyn, N.Y. A resident for nine years, he was retired, was a member of the U.S. Chess Foundation, American Bridge Association and a was master level bridge and chess teacher.

He is survived by his wife, DeeAnn; two daughters, Julie Harris of Henderson and Cambria Tooley of San Fernando, Calif.; and four grandchildren.

Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Michael Eggert

Michael Eggert, 37, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospital. He was born March 15, 1966, in Des Plaines, Ill. A resident for 28 years, he was a tech support manager for the Clark County School District, a Little League coach for many years and a member of the board of directors of Lone Mountain Little League.

He is survived by his wife, Gina; two sons, Nathaniel Eggert and Dylan Eggert, his parents, Patsy and Ron Eggert, and one sister, Lisa Eggert, all of Las Vegas.

Visitation is scheduled 2-7 p.m. Sunday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday in Christ Lutheran Church, 111 N. Torrey Pines Drive. Graveside services will follow at 12:30 p.m. Monday in Bunkers' Memory Gardens, 7251 W. Lone Mountain Road.

Frank A. Gomez

Frank A. Gomez, 67, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born Nov. 30, 1935, in Coachella, Calif. A resident for 29 years, he was a retired produce manager.

He is survived by his wife, Josephine Baray Gomez; one son, Frank Gomez Jr., two daughters, Joanne Garcia and Carol Redding, and one son, Rudy Gomez, all of Las Vegas; two sisters, Katie Rodriquez of Indio, Calif., and Margaret Gomez of Thermal, Calif.; 13 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Kirby Macklin

Kirby Macklin, 91, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospice. He was born May 2, 1912, in Mississippi. A resident for 33 years, he was a farmer.

He is survived by his wife, Annie; three sons, Willie L. Macklin, Grover Macklin, Joe Macklin and Al Macklin, and two daughters, Mary Terry Macklin and Ethel Macklin, all of Las Vegas; five brothers, Arlester Macklin of Las Vegas, Alf Macklin and Roy Macklin, both of Jackson, Miss., and James Macklin and L.C. Macklin, both of Pelahatchie, Miss.; three sisters, Betty Solomon of Las Vegas, Willie Mae Taylor of Jackson, Miss., and Bradie Grant of Holly Bush, Miss.; 14 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled noon-8 p.m. Sunday in American Burial and Cremation Services, 310 Foremaster Lane. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday in New Light Missionary Baptist Church, 1165 Lawry Ave. Burial will follow in Eden Vale Memorial Park.

Clarence Guy McCarty

Clarence Guy McCarty, 85, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. An industrial asphalt company foreman, he was born Feb. 23, 1918, in Iowa.

He is survived by one daughter, Patricia Causey of Henderson.

No local services are scheduled. Burial will be in New York. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Agnes Phillips

Agnes Phillips, 88, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospice. She was born Oct. 7, 1915, in Georgetown, Guyana. A resident for nine years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by one daughter, Margaret Kruglov of Las Vegas; one sister, Waveney Andrews of Georgetown; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Visitation is scheduled 11 a.m. until a 1 p.m. service Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Park, Northwest, 6701 N. Jones Blvd.

Justin Stephen Prentice

Justin Stephen Prentice, 15, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born Nov. 6, 1987, in Wichita, Kan. A resident for four years, he was a Centennial High School student, a member of Mountain Ridge Little League, loved computers and skate boarding.

He is survived by his parents, Steven A. and Shaunna T. Prentice, and one sister, Stephanie Prentice, all of Las Vegas; and his grandparents, Rose Prentice of Oklahoma City and Dr. Walter B. Prentice of California.

Visitation is scheduled noon-7 p.m. Sunday in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Additional visitation is scheduled one hour prior to a 2:30 p.m. service Monday in Canyon Ridge Christian Church, 6200 W. Lone Mountain Road. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens, 7251 W. Lone Mountain Road.

Thomas Edward Rauner

Thomas Edward Rauner, 78, of Henderson died Tuesday in Henderson. He was born Dec. 12, 1924, in Fort Wayne, Ind. A resident for 18 years, he was an air traffic controller for the Federal Aviation Administration and a World War II Navy veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Rosemary; five daughters, Terri Drahn of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Debbie Tobiasson of Apache Junction, Ariz., Patty Reinen of Hurst, Texas, and Mary Dziak and Suzanne Kramp, both of Henderson; two sons, Kevin Rauner of Henderson and Bob Rauner of Prairie Du Sac, Wis.; one brother, Robert Rauner of Tulsa, Okla.; five sisters, Mary Ann Brown of Venice, Fla., Judy Borden of Ridgecrest, Calif., Carolyn Sawyer of Orlando, Fla., and Barbara Erb and Marjorie Morken, both of Fort Wayne; and 16 grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 4-7 p.m. Sunday in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday in Holy Family Catholic Church, 4490 Mountain Vista St. Burial will follow in Paradise Memorial Gardens.

Joseph M. 'Mike' Young

Joseph M. "Mike" Young, 42, of Henderson died Sunday in Arizona. He was born June 28, 1961, in Oxford, N.C. A resident for nine years, he was an electrician and flight instructor, a Gulf War Air Force veteran and a member of the Organization of Black Airline Pilots.

He is survived by his wife, Natasha; three stepsons, Darrell Henderson of Las Vegas, Darnell Henderson of Henderson and Brandon Henderson of Tacoma, Wash.; and his mother, Margaret Young, and one sister, Yvonne Hoagland, both of Brooklyn, N.Y.

A memorial service will be noon Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson.
