Philanthropy awards to be given

The Las Vegas Sun is among six local organizations and individuals being recognized for contributions to philanthropy at the 12th annual Southern Nevada Philanthropy Day luncheon and celebration.
The program will be hosted by the Las Vegas Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals.
The awards will be presented at 11:30 a.m. Nov. 5 at Bally's Skyview Room.
Other honorees include Louis Castle, Outstanding Philanthropist; Tony Bond, Outstanding Volunteer Fund-raiser; The LandWell Co., Outstanding Corporate Giver; North Las Vegas Rotary Club, Outstanding Service Organization; and Lamar Marchese, Outstanding Professional Fund-Raising Executive.
The Sun is being honored as Outstanding Media Supporter.
The annual Philanthropy Day celebration allows charitable organizations to show their appreciation to individuals, businesses and foundations that have made outstanding contributions over the past year.
The luncheon is open to the public at $50 per person.
