Four die in weekend crashes

Four people died in area accidents over the weekend, including two in one crash, Metro Police said.
A driver who ran a red light at a Las Vegas intersection early Saturday caused a crash just after midnight that killed himself and woman whose car was struck, police said.
Officers arrived at the accident at Jones Boulevard and Spring Mountain Road and found both drivers dead.
They were identified by the Clark County coroner's office as Ray T. Stoffers, 28, and Irma Reynaga, 21, both of of Las Vegas.
Traffic investigators said Stoffers was driving north on Jones and ran a red light at Spring Mountain. His Toyota Corolla struck the left side of Reynaga's Oldsmobile Alero crossing west through the intersection on a green signal.
Stoffer's Toyota continued through the intersection and struck a Kia Spectra driven by 20-year-old Katie Clark. She was uninjured.
Metro Police suspect Stoffer's speeding and failure to stop at the red light cause the collision.
About 8:30 p.m. Saturday, a man trying to cross Sahara Avenue near Chapman Drive apparently walked into the path of a Chevrolet pickup truck, police said.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. His name was not released because his family has not been notified. Although the accident appears to be the fault of the pedestrian, Metro Police are continuing to investigate.
Driver Terry Uphold, 30, and his passenger, Brian Albright, 29, both of Las Vegas, were not injured.
An 80-year-old man was killed Friday when his car hit the back of a Clark County School District bus that was parked at the curb on Desert Inn Road near Boulder Highway, Metro Police said.
Jonathan Bilo of Las Vegas was heading east on Desert Inn in a 1990 Nissan pickup truck about 7:45 a.m. when he hit the back of the bus. The bus driver, Katherine Hernandez, 42, had finished her morning rounds and had pulled over to clean the bus, police said.
Bilo was taken to University Medical Center, where he died shortly after arriving. There were no students on the bus at the time of the collision.
