Letter: High school QB’s integrity admired

WEEKEND EDITION Nov. 22 - 23, 2003

I read the Nov. 11 column in the Sun about 17-year-old Nate Haasis, the Illinois high school quarterback. He got a 37-yard completion to secure for himself the all-time passing record in his conference. Coaches for both teams, however, had come up with a scheme to give him that pass completion.

When Haasis found out about it, he contacted the conference administrator and told him to omit the pass from the conference records, in fairness to himself and his teammates.

This 17-year-old stands head and shoulders above most adult men in this country, especially in government and corporate America. He personifies what this country was all about in the past, and once again can be in the future.
