Letter: Medicare drug benefit needed
Thursday, Nov. 13, 2003 | 8:57 a.m.
I would like to appeal to my fellow Medicare beneficiaries to contact their representatives in Congress to urge them to work diligently and in a bipartisan manner to pass meaningful Medicare legislation this year. This could be the most important piece of health care legislation to favorably affect seniors in many decades.
Millions of Medicare beneficiaries do not have prescription drug benefits and many go without necessary medications because they simply can't afford them. Now it's up to Congress to make sure prescription drug coverage becomes more broadly available, by strengthening the program that so many seniors have come to rely on.
