Moratorium plan dropped

CARSON CITY -- The Nevada Senate has scrapped a plan to impose a moratorium on granting new limousine permits in Clark County.

By voice vote, the Senate adopted an amendment to Assembly Bill 518, which initially called for a prohibition on additional limousines while a study is conducted on whether an allocation system should be put into effect.

The bill now allows the state Transportation Services Authority to process applications received before June 1. Under the amended bill, applications received after June 1 would permit just two limousines per company while the study is conducted on whether limousine permits should be limited.

The Senate was expected to vote today on the amended AB518, which would return to the Assembly for agreement on amendments.
