Reno boy eliminated in National Spelling Bee

RENO, Nev. AP) - A word meaning an eyelike spot was the downfall of a Reno youth competing in the National Spelling Bee.
Nick Williams, 13, was among 76 contestants eliminated Wednesday in the first round of the Scripps-Howard National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C.
The Pine Middle School eighth grader faltered on "ocellus," (oh-SEL (es)-, a noun meaning an "eyelike spot," such as that found on a peacock's feathers.
